He said: "I think, in the first place, that the best way of resolving any crisis is through dialogue andit is on this note that I am appealing to ASUU to resume negotiation with the government. The ACN was reacting to comments credited to the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Ministerof the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, that the FG did not have the N92bn demanded by ASUU. He noted that the group would mobilise the protesters to "occupy" the state and federal ministries of education in the country. Union wants clergy, monarchs, others to prevail on FG THE ongoing industrial action embarked on bythe Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) might not be over anytime soon as theFederal Government's re-negotiating committee has failed to reach a compromise with the union. This was made known by ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Isa-Faggae, in an interview with journalists in Abuja after the meeting with thePresidential Implementation Committee on NEEDS Assessment in Nigerian Universities, chaired by Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam. Meanwhile, apparently foreseeing that the Federal Government was in no hurry to cede ground, ASUU yesterday invited the clergy, traditional rulers and stakeholders to prevail on the Federal Government to respect the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement and to make integrity its watchword. Asuu is ready to call off strike but..............

The hope for the re- opening of universities in the shortest possible time was dashed Thursday after the Federal Government constituted committee chaired by the Benue State Governor, Hon. Gabriel Suswan in a meeting with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, failed to agree on the contentious issues. There were expectations that ASUU could call off the strike after the meeting as the National President of the union Dr. Nasir Fagge had previously said that calling off the strike was dependent upon what the Federal government would place on the table in respect of the implementation of the 2009 agreement. Speaking on the outcome of the meeting, Dr. Fagge said, "Well it was inaugural meeting, so naturally nothing much was achieved. It is just that the chairman (Governor Gabriel Suswan) told us how he wants to carry out the assignment. Funny joke

A student failed in law and decided to make a deal with professor. Sir, do you know everything about law? Professor: Yes. Student: If you can answer this question, I will accept my final marks, if you can't, you have to give me "A". The Professor agreed. Boy asked, "What is legal but not logical, logical but not legal & neither legal nor logical?" The Professor thought about it for hours & pondered but no answer. He finally had to give up as he really did not know and he gave the boy an "A". The following day, professor asked same question to his students. He was shocked when all of them raised their hands. He asked one student. The student answered "Sir, you are 65, married to 28 years old woman, this is legal but not logical. Your wife, is having an affair with a 23 year old boy, this is logical but not legal. Your wife's boyfriend has failed in his exam and yet you have given him an "A", this is neither

Wike Is More Concerned About River's State Crisis Than Ending The Strike - ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called for the sack of Minister of State for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike who ASUU claims is more worried about the Rivers state crisis than the lingering crisis in the universities. The Coordinator of ASUU, Ilorin Zone, Dr. Adeleke Ayan said that instead of Wike to be concerned about the nationwide strike he is bogged down with local river's politics which is not under his jurisdiction. At a press conference Wednesday in Ado Ekiti, Ayan, who is the Chairman of ASUU in Ekiti State University (EKSU), said it was lamentable that the minister had allegedly abandoned crucial national issues like ASUU strike and started indulging in local politics. He called for immediate release of the N100 billion the government promised to turn around the country’s Ivory Towers around, saying “a lot of restoration will take place if the money is released in our universities”. Describing Wike as a ‘roving minister’, Ayan declared
